Kym Maclaren is a professor of philosophy at Ryerson University, and founder of the Transformative Justice Project (TJP). TJP works with communities and community organizations to address systemic and institutional issues that are undermining the flourishing of communities and their members.

TJP does this by facilitating productive conversations, collaborative reflection, and collaborative problem- solving, and by ensuring that formerly silenced or ignored voices are not only heard, but also play an integral role in transforming policies and practices.

Kym is trained as a mediator, and has experience leading restorative justice circles, teaching conflict resolution, and working in collaboration with people who are or have been incarcerated. She publishes research on community-building, trust and responsibility, and social forces that constrain or enable individuals’ flourishing.
